You're exactly where you need to be.
You're exactly where you need to be.
This newsletter is inspired by the messages that, either I or my loved ones, have recently needed to hear. Welcome to the family.
If you find yourself feeling down because you think you should be farther than you are, whether it's in your health, relationships, or career, remind yourself: I can only be where I am, but I can use this moment to move in the direction I want to go.
In the book, The Art of Power, Zen master, poet, and peace activist, Thich Nhat Hanh, says that the foundation for happiness is faith, diligence, mindfulness, concentration, and insight.
He says, "When you have faith, your eyes are bright and your steps are confident."
We don't need to waste our precious time getting down on ourselves because we wish we were fitter, richer, more loved, or more successful than we currently are. It steals the present moment away from us and undermines the power within us to make a change. Yes, we want to strive, but if we do so with faith that we are exactly where we need to be now (because that's the only choice we have), the actions we take will be more thoughtful and deliberate. If you went to the gym and spent the hour cursing yourself for how out of shape you've gotten, you will not be as enthusiastic to return to the gym consistently. However, if you went and told yourself, "I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be and going where I want to go," it'd be a completely different experience-- one you'd likely repeat.
If you know someone else who needs to hear this message, feel free to forward it to them.

Bonus ♣️
What I'm listening to (watching): The Rousseau. It's a classical piano YouTube channel that plays acoustic with soothing visuals (It's hard to explain). Andrew and I are obsessed with it. If we're feeling stressed or anxious, we'll put one of these on and melt into the couch. Here's my favorite: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4VR-6AS0-l4
What I'm Reading: David Sedaris "Calypso" A collection of short stories by one of my favorite storytellers.
What I'm Loving: Ok this is really random, but this $6 drain unclogger on Amazon is the newest thing I never knew existed that I needed so much (no, I don't get paid for this link, I just really think more people should know about it) https://www.amazon.com/Green-Gobbler-Grabber-Remover-Showers/dp/B00IJFU440/ref=sr_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=hair+out+of+drain&qid=1603085794&sr=8-5
